Flerovium


Located at Period 14 and Group 7 of the Periodic Table is one of the man made Heavy Element. This is Flerovium.

First discovered by a group of Scientists at Joint Institute for Nuclear Research led by ( JINR ) Yuri Ogannesian and Ken Moodyand in 1998, first created also in 1998 ( not isolated, since it is a man - made element ) by the same group of Scientists at Joint Institute for Nuclear Research ( JINR ), also led byYuri Ogannesian and Ken Moody.

Not much was known about Flerovium since it is a man - made element. However, we knew that they bombarded atoms of Plutonium with ions of Calcium, which after that produced only one atom of Flerovium.

Flerovium's discovery was announced a year later its discovery ( 1999 ), so there is not much information about this element. Moreover, there is only 90 atoms of Flerovium created up to date, where 58 was created directly, and 32 is produced from radioactive decay.

Although not much is known about the element, we still can predict that Flerovium is highly radioactive, just like all the other elements in the Periodic Table's Period 7 ( Francium, Radium, Actinium, etc. ).

So, Flerovium is very radioactive.

How Flerovium got its name?
Flerovium got its name from the Founder of Joint Institute of Nuclear Research, Georgy Flerov. Before Flerovium was officially discovered, it holds the ' Unknown ' title, which is Ununquadium. Ununquadium only got its name in May 2012, where the International Union of Pure and Applied

Chemistry ( IUPAC ) agreed to name Ununquadium Flerovium, voted by the scientists.

Uses
There is no known uses for Flerovium yet. However, he know that Flerovium is only used in Laboratory for research purposes. The uses of Flerovium is unknown... until we know more.
